Ahja River offers diverse fishing opportunities. According to the data from kalapeedia.ee there are many different varieties of fish – roach, perch, pike, ruffe, chub, silver bream, bream. Tiku’s master has also caught a burbot and tench. Prior to the creation of the lake, there has also been fish such as brown trout, char, gudgeon, freshwater sculpin, stone loach and brook lamprey. Since the river is also indirectly connected to a few fish farms it is possible to catch some of their escaped specimen (eel, sturgeon, trout).
Due to the eradication plans of the artificial lake, this is one of the best studied river. How is the fish doing and what unexplored fish names can you find here can be read from the 2015 review. However, if you were unable to catch a fish, then for small price it is possible to get trout or sturgeon from our neighbours fish farm (Krei-Jõe fish farm). The use of a rowing boat is included in the price for the guests of our guest houses!
