Tiku Holiday Homes<\/h2>\n

Tiku Holiday Homes are founded on the territory of an primeval farm. The farm has been here since the late 17th century and the former Metsa farm (Forest farm) was sold to a family in 1868. The last successor by the family line was Ervin Tikk. Ervin was not active in farming but earned his living as a musician at the Vanemuine Orchestra. As Ervin had no heirs, he inherited the farm to his caretaker. During the ESSR, the farm was at the disposal of the collective farm families. Among others, the local doctor was accommodated here with his family. In this family, a well-known musician named Inboil also grew up in this farm. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

After regaining independence, the farm was divided into pieces and sold to different people and companies. We bought this farm from a German company in 2004. The farm had fallen into the hands of the Germans as a result of unsuccessful forest transactions and had been used as a summer cottage for many years. Germans used their own summer cottage for a week or two per year and was mainly a party place for the Estonian janitor who was taking care of the place. Although the name of the property was officially Metsa 1 (Forest 1), the locals knew it as Tiku Farm. Since many different people passed through the farm throughout the years, there was no original farm items left when we bought it. The historic furnishings, tools, documents and other things of the farm were carried out to the wide world. The buildings were in very bad shape, the wild animals were eating apples in the garden and when they were full, they slept under the windows. <\/span><\/p>\n

The farm was purchased originally for the family to live there and the Kiidj\u00e4rve-Taevaskoja hiking trail which goes through the farm\u2019s territory was so popular that even the family dog had given up barking on people because he got tired of it and used to strangers. As the family also likes hiking and fishing in the wild, they did not want to prohibit other hikers from their territory and decided to build holiday homes instead.<\/span><\/p>\n
